This M4 is completely redesigned along with a totally new chassis. M engineers went back to the inline-six historically seen in their very successful E46 M3. In fact this new M4 is believed to be lighter than the its predecessor the E92 and also the E46.
The M4 inline-six is twin turbo. It has small turbos that have a max boost of 18.1 psi. It comes standard with a 6 speed manual transmission and for those who prefer 2 pedals, a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic is available.
